Flowerpot Island Lightstation

Georgian Bay

The wooden lighthouse and fog plant, seen here in their original state, were demolished in 1969 by the Canadian Coast Guard. A steel tower, decommissioned fog plant and observation deck now occupy the site.

Unmanned and abandoned in 1987, the restoration of the lightstation's remaining buildings, two homes, boat house and pump house, is the latest project of the Friends of the Bruce District Parks Association (Friends of Fathom Five). Volunteers are hard at work restoring and maintaining this historic lightstation.
