Sheep are the predominant livestock, approximately 200 in all. The flock is composed of approximately 35 Rambouillet (rare), including a few black and white horned, 35 Rideau, 60 Newfoundland (rare), and 10 Soay (rare).

There are a couple of Morgan Horses.  A chestnut gelding Canaan Farm Exuberance and a bay mare Canaan Farm Nette. Newfoundland ponies-- hosted dun mare, Nikki, and the very fine bay stallion, Pyro. Theya is a Newfoundland/Morgan filly. Follow the horses link for pedigrees and Morgans for sale.

Large donkeys (half dozen) are bred and sometimes available.

Border Terriers will greet you at the gate when you visit the farm. Find out more on the Dogs page.  A new breed, the Niagara Terrier , is being developed which will be basically Border Terrier, but in the 13-16 lb size range and a variety of colors.

A productive white meat strain of Muscovy Duck has been in the process of improvement for twenty-five years.

A small free ranging flock of Chantecler Chickens (rare) are maintained as the only farm chicken. Breeding selection is simple, if one or a few don't look good they get eaten. Breeding stock is usually available or reference to other breeders can be given.

A Warm Welcome
